When I came into the program,
I did not know what these sins are virtues were. I figured they were
something bad that God said not to do. I'm come to learn that there is a
lot more to it than that. These are things that will get me a whole lot of
hurt. If I get to prideful, then I'm teachable. I believe that I can
do it all on my own, and that I made it this far on my own. This would be
lie! If I coveting ill feelings, that wrong things, or others peoples
significant others, I open myself up to a wide world of insanity!
Lust...well, that one goes without saying. Anger, whew! Anger and
resentment will put me right back where I came from quick! Gluttony, this
one varies depending on which program your in. If your in OA, "Can you say
STEPS?". Envy, if I go around envying everybody and what they have
physically, mentally, intuitively, materialistically, then I am not grateful for
what I have! Slothfulness, if I lay back and don't give it away to keep
it, I will loose it! My Higher Power definitely had something good in mind
when He showed me these things to stay far away from. I don't want
insanity in my life today, I want peace and serenity. The only way to get
that is to have guidelines that I live by. For me, these work! I
have a lot more, but these are definitely high on the list!
